By collecting donations of clothing and household items, Goodwill thrift stores are able to fund job training and placement programs for people with disabilities and other barriers.

Salvation Army Loan Closet
The Loan Closet accepts donations of previously used medical equipment (wheelchairs, beds, crutches, etc.). Equipment is sanitized and loaned to those who are unable to purchase new equipment.

Progress Industries
Provides residential and vocational services for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities in Central Iowa. Services offered include: home and community based services, supported community living, intermediate care facility for persons with mental retardation, pre-vocational work services, psychological rehabilitation for people with mental illness, supported employment, and day habilitation program. Referrals are accepted through the Department of Human Services and private pay.

Kid Assist
Through the loan of equipment such as walkers, bath and toileting aids, adapted bikes, low-tech switches and toys, bedside tables, adapted swim aids, swings and other types of positioning aids for sitting and standing individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to experience an improved quality of life.
